What is Microblading?

Microblading is an eyebrow tattooing technique developed around 25-30 years ago in China, which use to be known as eyebrow embroidery. This technique is slightly different than regular tattooing but ultimately achieves the same result, just more temporary. This procedure is done with a manual tool instead of a tattoo machine. A microblade is a row of microneedles typically aligned on a slant, curved slant or U-shape. The pigment is then scraped into the skin in a hair-like design to mimic the look of natural eyebrow hair. The pigment does go into the same layer of the skin (dermal layer) as a regular tattoo would but because it’s done with a manual tool the pigment is not as concentrated in the skin. This technique is primarily used to build where eyebrow hair may be missing, correct unevenness or shape or to fill in sparseness of the natural eyebrow hair. When done properly by an experienced professional, microblading can look extremely natural and blend with a person’s natural eyebrow hair to be almost undetectable.
