What is Lip Blush?

Lip blush, also known as aquarelle lips, velvet lips, and candy lips is the newest craze in lip tattooing. The older form of lip tattooing is basically permanent lipstick which is a full coverage lip tattoo where the pigment fully saturates the lips. With this newer technique, the result has a much softer effect and will appear as a lip tint.

Using a permanent makeup machine to create tiny little colour pixels on the lips with a whip shading technique you can achieve a subtle yet beautiful lip colour. You can correct uneven lip lines, define weak lip borders, even out patchy lip colours, correct unwanted lip tones and even cover scars. When a lip blush procedure is done it usually takes anywhere from 2.5-4 hours depending on the artist. The swelling after the procedure is finished can be anywhere from moderate-severe but will subside in about 24 hours. The colour will appear quite bright, intense or even distorted when they are first done and then they will peel in about 3-5 days and the colour will be significantly lighter and when fully healed about 40% lighter than the original colour. When the lips first peel, the colour can appear to be very faded, sometimes look almost “gone” and then over the next few weeks the colour will “bloom” and the true shade will show.

The aftercare of a lip blush procedure is pretty easy, most importantly just keep them moisturized! You want to stay away from salty and spicy food for the first couple days and avoid opening your mouth too wide (eating a big sandwich) and avoid kissing. Once they are done peeling you are free to return to your normal habits, but still always keep them moisturized for at least a few weeks. It takes about 4-6 weeks for them to be fully healed.

It’s important to not consume any alcohol, pain killers or caffeine 24 hours before the procedure to lessen bleeding. If you are prone to getting cold sores, you must get a prescription from your doctor and take the medication for a few days before and after the procedure to ensure you don’t have a breakout.

Wake up and look your best with perfect lips and save time applying less makeup with permanent makeup procedures like Lip blush!
