Filling Another Lash Technician's Work

Some lash studios have a “removal and full set” policy, which means they will not fill another lash technician’s work so you must get a removal of the old eyelashes and get a full new set. This is not a negative thing, it will most likely cost you more money but it can be very beneficial. If you are trying out a new lash place it’s probably because you weren’t happy with the last place you were going or wanted a change, so it doesn’t hurt to start fresh and see the full capacity of what the new technician can do.

The reason why they have this policy is because often times (unfortunately) when a client is coming in from somewhere else, their lashes can be poorly done ie. stuck together, too much glue or the extensions are too heavy or too long for the clients natural lashes, there may be damage which needs to be assessed with the all the extensions off. Either way it can be too difficult and time consuming to try and “fill” poor quality work like that so it’s better to just start from scratch. Another thing is if the products they used are poor quality they will most likely not mix well with the new higher quality lashes being used and it will look very messy and probably not be the desired outcome.

On the other hand, if a client comes in with lashes from elsewhere because maybe they just weren’t staying on well enough or they didn’t like their experience but the work is good quality and they are fillable then your new technician may allow it. However, the price will differ from technician to technician. If you go for a fill and you just had one 2 weeks ago but you barely have any lashes left on or the ones you have on are really grown out and most of them need to be removed anyways, it’s a ton of work for your new technician, so even though it’s only been 2 weeks they will most likely charge you for a full set or close to because they can’t guarantee another tech’s work, they still have to charge for how much work they have to do. Also, unfortunately people aren’t always honest, just because somebody says “it’s a 3 week fill”, doesn’t mean that it is.

If you’re only trying a new technician because you just couldn’t get in with your regular lash tech then try to make sure you’re pre-booking far enough in advance so that doesn’t happen in the future and you don’t end up paying extra with a new technician. It’s always best to do your research before you decide where to go, in order to find a place that is going to be high quality and professional with a good customer service experience. Sometimes you do have to shop around a bit which can be costly  but when you find the one for you, it can be some serious lash love.
