Is Permanent Makeup Safe During Pregnancy or While Nursing?

The short answer: wait.

If you're pregnant, trying to conceive, or currently breastfeeding, Lashious Studio asks that you hold off on booking any permanent makeup service, including microblading, nano brows, 3D brows, and lip blush. This isn't a formality. There's real reasoning behind it.

Why We Pause

Permanent makeup involves pigment being deposited into the skin. The body responds to that the same way it responds to any minor skin trauma, with an immune response and a healing process. During pregnancy and nursing, your immune system is already doing a lot and the last thing you want to deal with is a risk of infection. Hormones are shifting constantly. Healing looks different, pigment retention looks different, and the overall response to any skin work is simply not what it would be otherwise.

On top of that, there's no established safety data on pigment absorption during pregnancy. The industry doesn't have a clear answer on this. And without one, waiting is the right call.

Your skin also behaves differently during pregnancy due to hormonal changes, which can affect how pigment settles. Work done during this window may heal unevenly or fade in ways that are hard to predict, meaning the results you came in for might not be what you leave with.

What About Numbing?

Topical numbing cream is used during most permanent makeup services to keep you comfortable. These products are not recommended during pregnancy or while nursing, and that alone is reason enough to reschedule. 

When Can You Book?

Once you've finished nursing and your cycle has returned to something close to normal, you're generally in the clear. If you're unsure, check with your doctor first. Leah is happy to answer questions in the meantime.
