Whether it's lashes, brows, or lips, most people have a moment where they see the price of a proper esthetic service and pause. It's a fair reaction. These aren't small purchases, and it's worth understanding exactly what that price covers before you book anything, anywhere.
Training Takes Years, Not Weekends
Permanent makeup and lash extensions are technical, precision work performed on your face. Training for them isn't something wrapped up in an afternoon course. Our founder, Leah Crockford, trained at the London School for nail technology and Biotouch Canada for permanent makeup, then apprenticed with one of Vancouver's top lash technicians before opening Lashious Studio in 2015. She's continued that education year after year with certifications from Spa Academy, LashBoxLA, Shay Danielle Academy, Mara Cosmetic Tattoo Academy and more. That kind of ongoing training costs real money and real time, and it's baked into every appointment.
What You're Actually Paying For
A service price covers more than the hour you spend in the chair:
Certified training and continuing education. Techniques and safety standards evolve, and staying current isn't optional.
Professional-grade products. The adhesives, pigments, and tools used in a proper studio cost significantly more than consumer alternatives, for good reason.
A private, sanitized studio environment. Lashious Studio operates out of a dedicated space on the 4th floor of the Avenue Building in downtown Saskatoon, built specifically for this work.
Inspected and insured. Lashious studio has a health inspection every year to ensure proper standards are being met. Only properly licensed businesses must complete health inspections and are eligible for insurance.
Experience. A technician who's done thousands of sets or procedures works faster, safer, and more precisely than one who's done a handful.
Why Cheaper Often Costs More
Esthetic services carry real risk when they're rushed or done by someone under-trained. Allergic reactions, botched pigment work, or extensions that damage your natural lashes are all more likely when corners are cut. Fixing a poorly done procedure, whether that's lash removal and a redo or color correction on a bad brow tattoo, usually costs more than doing it right the first time would have. A lower price up front doesn't always mean a lower price overall.
The Lashious Approach
Since 2015, Lashious Studio has focused on pairing quality with fair pricing rather than treating them as opposites. In 2020, Leah launched her own line of lash products after years of testing nearly everything on the market, built specifically for lash artists, by a lash artist, to keep quality high without the markup of relying on third-party brands. That's the goal: professional standards without a luxury price tag attached to every part of the experience.
